SCENE 1 A NEW BEGINNING
Time is creation. Time is dissolution. Time is unbounded by our needs and expectations. This journey begins at birth as the Jiva’s mother calls out in prayer and dance inviting the spirit soul into her womb. A Cyr wheel artist embodies time stitching together moments of Jiva’s life right until he is met with sobering news. We can lose track of time running after things, holding onto old grudges and before we know it someone that was so dear us is gone. Jiva reflects on his experiences.
SENE 2 QUEEN OF ILLUSIONC
In the Bhagavad Gita, Krsna speaks about the illusory energy of the material world called
Maya. Like the clouds that cover the sun, Maya clouds our consciousness from our true
nature. Maya, the Queen of Illusion, takes center stage in a breathtaking dance displaying her powers as she mesmerizes her dancers into a spell. A Kathak piece accompanied by
contemporary dance.
SCENE 3 FINAL RITES
Jiva travels to India for the funeral ceremony and cremation of his father. Set upon the
backdrop of Varnasi the Jiva journeys to the banks of the holy river Ganga where the funeral pyre is set. From Spring to Winter, from Life to Death the body is a garment swept away in the winds of existence. A sobering scene reflecting the temporariness of life is illuminated with knowledge when Jiva picks up the Bhagavad Gita given to him by his father. Krsna speaks to him.
SCENE 4 THE DEAL
Jiva has taken over his father’s pharmaceutical business and is about to walk into a very
important meeting. A new pharmaceutical drug is on the table for discussion that targets the mind in reducing anxiety and depression that comes with many side effects. Kage, Jiva’s close companion and advisor, is introduced here prepping Jiva to step into the meeting and make the deal. Hand to hand, two acrobatic artists represent the delicateness of time when the pressure builds within our minds to make a life altering decision.
SCENE 5 THE MODES OF MATERIAL NATURE
As we dive in the Maya’s world, the conjurer Queen takes us on a riveting journey of the three modes of material nature. They are the paths of darkness and ignorance, passion and selfcenteredness, goodness and unity that we choose to operate within as we traverse this world. Darkness is expressed in a fusion ensemble of Kalaripayattu martial arts and contemporary dance. Passion weaves into the fabric of the modes through an energetic Kathak dance presentation. Goodness unwinds the knots of darkness and passion into peaceful and beautiful Bharatanatyam dance piece
SCENE 6 THE BATTLE
News reports are surfacing about the negative side effects of the pharmaceutical drug
endorsed by Jiva’s company. An aerial strap duet represents the fragility of Jiva’s mind
holding on by a thread as he finds himself breaking down due to stress. Two dancers present Jiva’s mind in a battle of positive and negative forces expressed in Kathak and Bharatnatyam.The battle persists as Jiva faces Kage in a lyrical war of words.
SCENE 7 REMEMBERING
Maya falls into a sweet remembrance being in the spiritual world with Krsna. She remembers why she was entrusted with her service. An aerial silk performance unravels Maya’s descent from the spiritual into the material world. The delicate threads of her devotion weave the connection from her heart to the divine. Maya presents a Kathak dance of devotion
SCENE 8 SELF-REALIZATION
Through the practice of meditation over the months, Jiva has tamed his mind in preparation to unwind the deeper stresses of his life. From a vulnerable heart he yearns for guidance and calls out to Krsna. Krsna meets him in the streets of Mumbai and shares the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.
SCENE 9 THE AWAKENING
The veils of illusion have been lifted from Jiva’s eyes revealing the divine within his heart and all beings. Empowered to walk the path of truth and service he stands tall as a spiritual warrior ready to fight on the battlefield of materialism. He realizes that he can operate from a place of service even in his pharmaceutical company. He can use this company as a platform to heal the world on a massive scale. Krsna gives him a staff that represents braving the turbulence of illusion, harnessing balance through mantra meditation and living a life of non violence and finally walking his path of purpose.
